The only possible solution is that your anti-virus program may be blocking some of it's features, but that's a long shot that that's the case. I believe there's some setting or file within Hallmark Card Studio 2013 that wasn't designed to run with Windows 8.

Windows 7 was an upgrade from Windows Vista so not much changed, but Windows 8 has been a different story. Anytime a new operating system is introduced, it makes a big impact on programs that are not compatible with it. I'm not a Windows 8 technician or programmer, so I can't be absolutely sure, but I can tell you that a high majority of JustAnswer customers have experienced similar problems to yours with Windows 8.
Hallmark Card Studio 2013 - November 15th, 2012 I looked up when both products were released: I can try to keep looking into the issue, but I'm pretty sure it's because of windows 8 compatibility. If by some reason, you purchased the CD instead, please let me know so we can bypass some of these steps. Once you can get the download, I can go through the process of uninstalling the previous version and re-installing it from the new download. If you're unable to download it again, I would recommend going back to the link above and clicking Live Chat in the top right of the screen to see if a service representative can open up the download due to the program messing up on you and therefore the fault is with the company's software. I do not agree with this is it's been more than a month, because the program caused the error, and not you. From what I see on here, your download will only be available again if you purchased this program within the last month or purchased the extended download program. However, I tried to go through this process, and you'll eventually get to a screen that looks like this (see below). The link below is where you download it again.
